Launch of Capital Campaign March 2, 2013

The celebratory launch of the Capital Campaign, Building Friends, was held this past Saturday. I hope you were able to attend. For those who missed it, here are a few photos. Above, you can see Mike Hanas welcoming everyone to the Stop Hunger Now volunteer event.
Here you can see some of our US volunteers: Nick, Sydney, Crispin, and Davi
Our biology teacher, Frances, was ready to work. After experiencing the Stop Hunger Now event, Frances, along with many others, felt that this service project should be an annual event. Not only is it important work, but it is a great community building exercise--perfect for all ages.
Here is my husband, Greg, waiting for boxes filled with food. Behind Greg, you can see Becky Kennedy, one of the Stop Hunger Now organizers.
Happy US students waiting for bags of food to weigh and seal in plastic bags.
More US students filling bags with nutritious food.
Filling the truck with over 30,000 meals!
Following the Stop Hunger Now event, we moved to the Quaker Dome for a ceremony to mark the opening of the Quaker Dome and the official launch of the Building Friends Capital Campaign. Here, you can see the Quaker N'Oats warming up. They sang two songs during the ceremony.
Meanwhile, Jamie was a runner for Stop Hunger Now.
Here, you can see folks in the newly renovated Quaker Dome watching the video that was lovingly prepared by Mig Little Hayes and 2 MS students.
Above, you see the minute of commitment that was read by Martha Klopfer and signed by all who were present.
People waiting to sign the minute of commitment.
Frances Brindle signs the minute of commitment while Upper School students wait to sign.

I hope you can get an idea of what a wonderful day of celebration this was for the school. I saw so many smiles on faces! And now the hard work begins--raising over $7.5 million. With the Quaker Dome completed, the MS renovations have begun. These renovations will be followed by the LS and finally the new performing arts auditorium. Such exciting and important work!
