5K Run at CFS this Saturday!

The students in Jon and Jamie's Meaning and Representation class are hosting a 5K run on Saturday, from 10am-1pm, at CFS to raise funds to support the continued education of 40 orphaned children in Kenscoff, Haiti.
Last year, the Alliance for Children Foundation, based in Needham, MA, constructed a new group home for 45 orphaned children previously made homeless by the earthquake of 2010. A neighboring community center containing a media lab and medical clinic is near completion. The long-term goal that our students are interested in supporting is ensuring that each child in this orphanage in Haiti has access to a modern education that employs the latest in technology to have realistic economic prospects to make a viable living and lift them out of poverty.
The cost of supporting one child's tuition, including uniform and books, is $360. Each student running in this event aims to raise the full tuition amount needed to support an individual child. They are taking pledges to support their running in this event. (***Note that the oldest runner in this 5K is none other than myself!***)
Funds raised at the 5K will be directed to the Alliance for Children Foundation. (464 Hillside Ave., Ste. 300, Needham, MA 02494) Our students have also planned fun events for children...and they will be serving yummy Haitian food. You are invited to join us Saturday as a runner, spectator, cheerleader, or just an interested bystander.

Week of April 15...Prom time!

Prom tickets are now on sale. They are $25/each. (Checks can be made out to CFS.) The prom will be held at the Old Murphey School from 9-12. All are welcome! If $25 poses financial difficulty for your family, please contact Carrie. We don't want any student to miss the prom for financial reasons. This evening is truly for the entire Upper School community. The theme for this year's prom is Simple Elegance.

Welcome back from spring break! We are off and running...

Spring has arrived! These beautiful trees greeted me when I arrived on campus today. Now that spring break is over, we have only 5 weeks left in the spring term. From experience, I know how quickly this time will pass. We will do our best to take each day as slowly as we can...one day at a time...
Congratulations to our very own Logan who has just returned from the National Paralympics Swim Meet in Minneapolis. Logan swam the backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle. He swam his best times ever! Below, you can see Logan getting ready to take off in the backstroke finals. Way to go, Logan!
Guess what is just around the corner--PROM!! Tickets will be on sale this week for $25/person. The PROM is on Saturday, April 20th, from 9-12 at the Old Murphey School on the corner of Murphy School Rd. and Old NC10.
Students come in groups, with a date, with a friend, or alone. All are welcome!
Welcome back!
